Mira Nair is currently shooting “Amelia,” and the first stills from the upcoming biopic debuted today on Live Journal. You can check out one image just above and click for the rest of them right HERE. The film centers on the life and career of Amelia Earhart, the famous American pilot who became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic by herself. In 1937, she disappeared somewhere over the Pacific during an attempt to fly around the world. Hilary Swank plays the titular character. Ewan McGregor, Richard Gere, Virginia Madsen and Christopher Eccleston co-star.

Christopher Eccleston will share the cockpit with Hilary Swank in "Amelia," the Mira Nair-directed Amelia Earhart biopic for Avalon Pictures and Fox Searchlight. Eccleston, who jumped from the NBC series "Heroes" to playing the villain role in Paramount's "G.I. Joe," will play Earhart's navigator, Fred Noonan. Noonan flew with Earhart when her plane disappeared over the Pacific during an attempt to circumnavigate the globe in 1937. Eccleston joins Richard Gere, Ewan MacGregor and Virgina Madsen in the cast.

There is this food store here in Florida called Publix and they can take photos you have at home and scan them onto a cake. The photo actually becomes part of the icing! I never imaged that I would get a cake like this for my 37th B-day...

My fiance' and my son took the photo of Chris in and all the ladies in the bakery wanted to know who he was. They kept saying how handsome he was. HANDS OFF LADIES... HE'S MINE!!! The cake was veryyyy sweet.
