Tropical Storm Fay Went Away… for now
Amazing… Fay was headed right for the Tampa Bay Area, the area I am from, and then took a right turn headed north east. Everyone was sure that we would get hit and there would be flooding. We didn't even get any rain. I went to the grocery store on Monday to buy some canned food and batteries and the place was packed with people crazily shopping for the upcoming "disaster". One woman in the store started screaming because there was no gallon jugs of water left and she shouldn't be forced to buy expensive 24 packs. Luckily I was plenty stocked up on jugs of water because I have 3 fish tanks at home. I wondered if she would have hunted me down if she knew that information. You snooze you loose, right?
Fay grounded herself in Florida on Monday hitting Miami and making it's way toward us. They were saying on the news that Fay should hit the Tampa Bay area by 2 am Tuesday Morning. Fay hit Ft Myers, only an hour away from me, and then Tuesday made a sharp turn east like a crazy driver being chased by the police. It was kind of sad that she had diverted her way around us so quickly after so many people here invested their time and money in her arrival. It seemed a few people were upset about it. How can you be upset about something like that after Katrina. People are weird and unpredictable during a disaster, like Fay.

A miracle… or is it?
I have lived here in the area for over 16 years and I have yet to see a category 5 hurricane. The closest I have come is a category 3 which really isn't that bad. I actually delivered pizzas in a category 3 hurricane. It is amusing to hear people comment on how lucky we are or saying things like "God is holding out on us because when we do get hit, we will get hit BIG." Phhfft. I want to ask those people, "Why are you still here then?." Seriously luck nor God have nothing to do with it. I cannot totally explain the steps to you because I am not a scientist, but the reason we don't get hit so hard is because of the location we are in. Having to do with pressure and some other things relating to the Earth and Water. Its ALL scientific, but I guess people have to blame it on someone.
Fay Coming Back?
They are saying that Fay is moving north east toward the outer part of Florida and then may circle around and hit Florida again. They are not sure what part of Florida but whatever she does it won't be so bad because while she continues to stay on land she loses strength so if she circles around again she will still remain a Tropical Storm and not even reach a category 1 hurricane.
I am not worried. The only thing that worries me about harsh weather is when electricity goes out along with the internet. Everything else I can handle calmly, but playing UNO with my family for 6 hours to 2 days can drive you insane to the point where you wish you could just hide under the couch like your cat. Did I mention that my parents and my older brother live in trailers and during times like these they come and stay with me, my fiance and my son in my cramped two bedroom apartment. Out of the way cat, under the couch I go!
